1. Who We Are
Car Questions is operated by WEP Ventures LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Georgia, USA.
Contact: info@carquestions.com
2. Information We Collect
a) Information you give us directly
- Account information: name, email address, password (via our authentication provider, Supabase) or OAuth identifiers if you sign in with a third-party provider.
- Purchase information: billing name, email, and transaction history. We do not directly collect or store your full payment card details — these are collected and processed by our payment processor, Stripe.
- Newsletter/email signup: email address, and any preferences you provide.
- Communications: anything you send us directly (support requests, feedback).
b) Information collected automatically
- Usage and analytics data: pages visited, referring URLs, device/browser type, approximate location (from IP address), and interaction data, collected through Google Analytics.
- Advertising data: we display ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads, including personalized ads based on your visits to this and other sites. See Section 8 for how to opt out.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for authentication (keeping you logged in), essential site functionality, analytics, and advertising. See Section 8.
c) Information from third parties
- If you sign in via a third-party OAuth provider (e.g., Google, Apple), we receive basic profile information (name, email) as authorized by you.
- Stripe may share limited transaction status information with us (e.g., payment succeeded/failed, subscription status) but not full card numbers.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Process purchases, subscriptions, and refunds
- Send transactional emails (receipts, account notices) and, if you opt in, marketing/newsletter emails
- Monitor, maintain, and improve the Services
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/UK Visitors)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the Services you request (account, purchases, subscriptions)
- Consent: for marketing emails and non-essential cookies/analytics, which you may withdraw at any time
- Legitimate interests: for fraud prevention, security, and improving the Services, balanced against your rights
- Legal obligation: where processing is required by law (e.g., tax records)
5. Third-Party Service Providers ("Subprocessors")
We share information with the following categories of service providers, who process it only on our behalf and under their own data protection obligations:
| Provider | Purpose | Data Shared |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Billing name, email, transaction data |
| Supabase | Authentication & database hosting | Account credentials, profile data |
| Google Analytics | Site analytics | Usage/device/IP data |
| Google AdSense | Advertising | Cookie/device identifiers, browsing data used for ad delivery and personalization |
These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and, where applicable, offer their own Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) that extend GDPR-level protections to data they process on our behalf.
6. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States. If you are located outside the U.S. (including the EEA/UK), your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on our subprocessors' Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent safeguards for such transfers.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax/accounting records), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (Section 9).
8. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential purposes (keeping you logged in, security)
- Analytics (Google Analytics — understanding site usage)
- Advertising (Google AdSense — delivering and, where permitted, personalizing ads based on your activity on this and other sites)
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalized advertising directly through Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. California residents may also exercise their right to opt out of the "sale or sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising by contacting us at info@carquestions.com.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing (e.g., marketing)
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (EU/UK) or, for California residents, exercise rights under the CCPA/CPRA (access, deletion, correction, and opt-out of "sale/sharing" — note: we do not sell personal data for money, but our use of Google AdSense for personalized advertising may be considered "sharing" under the CCPA/CPRA, which you can opt out of as described in Section 8)
To exercise any of these rights, email info@carquestions.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30 days).
10. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including Row Level Security policies on our database, encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
